While the Jam was a finely tuned unit, I’d say that the role of Paul Weller in the Jam was almost as large as his current role in Paul Weller.

Statement from From The Jam’s management:
It is with great regret that we announce that the band’s North American tour has been cancelled.
This is with immediate effect and results from the current economic climate with extra costs across the board making our proposed schedule non-viable.
The band has not taken this decision lightly and everything has been done to try to avoid this course of action. We very much hope to reschedule this tour for next year – any new dates will be announced first here.

“From The Jam” is Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler from the… well, you know… along with two other guys who, based on their myspace audio samples, reproduce a very close facsimile to the sound of the Jam. I’m torn between really wanting to see them and feeling that the Jam are one band whose legacy shouldn’t be touched, even by two of the original members, but the Jam are possibly the band I most regret never getting a chance to see live, and this is probably as close as I’ll ever get… So, I think I’m gonna go.
