Yerkish is proud to present Fear Conquers America, their first LP and most evocative collection of music from the band since they formed in 2005. Following two eps, Vignettes and The Return of Douglas Jupitor, Fear Conquers America celebrates the band’s return to a four piece and their ascent into a new realm of rock and roll.
Eight solid tracks, spanning 43 minutes, weave an intricate path which can detail the band’s progress over the
years, containing some new material, one of which written specifically for the album, and two of the band’s first songs ever written. Dark and mournful, soulful and passionate, and cascading between incendiary and lugubrious, the music suggests countless influences and spins cautionary tales of people, politics and religion.
Some notable songs include Bitten and USS Jeezus. Bitten, a dark, nearly creepy blues and rock amalgam, equates politicians to keen-sensed beasts. USS Jeezus presents the opposition of science and religion, the ambiguity of religion and state, and the idea that absolute power corrupts absolutely, all in under seven minutes.
