Tickle Me Pink is an indie band based out of Fort Collins, Colorado. Over the last years TMP has massively impacted the Colorado music scene. After releasing their debut cd, “If Only We Were 21 and Up,” at the Aggie Theatre in 2005, they have risen to new levels.
Now being aired on radio stations such as 93.3 KTCL, 90.5 KCSU, and 88.9 KRFC, their music is getting stuck in the heads of most who will give it a listen. In November of last year, they were voted the number one band on college radio for the month, being aired once every hour.
In early 2006, TMP ventured to the west coast as well as to Vegas, Utah, and Wyoming. The shows spread their exposure and won them the attention of numerous labels.
Also that year, they signed with Grantham Dispatch Records. Their new album, Half Seas Over, was released through GDR in March. Chris Keup(producer and co-writer of Jason Mraz) produced their album and Jeff Juliano(mastered Dave Mathew’s Band and John Mayer) mastered their album. Preceding this recording, TMP lost their bassist. Left in a bind, they somehow dug themselves free when “Lifehouse’s” bassist, Stewart Myers, stepped up to the plate and played on the new record.
This past month, TMP recorded a three song demo in the Blasting Room in Fort Collins. This album was engineered by Andrew Berlin, who also did their first record. Keep in mind, andrew put in two 20 hour days and asked for nothing in return.
Tickle Me Pink consists of…
Sean Kennedy
Sean has been involved in music his entire life. Taking opera lessons, piano, and guitar for 10 years, he has developed a unique, perfected style of his own. trained by classic guitarist Dave Beegle.
Stefan Runstrom
Stefan has been playing drums for eternity. He was immediatley added to TMP a year ago when fellow band members watched him win a battle of the bands on his own. Most would say he is a God. However, he would claim he likes to sound (and look) like Taylor Hawkins(Foo Fighters).
Johnny Schou
Johnny is TMP’s newest member. Johnny has a natural gift for music and bass guitar. He plays nearly every instrument and has an ear for song writing like you wouldn’t believe. Johnny just finished recording “Rise Against” at The Blasting Room where he works with legendary Bill Stevenson(the Descendents, Lemonheads, black flaf etc..). You might know him from other bands such as the “Unsinkable Molly Brown.”
Most fans would say that Tickle Me Pink cannot be fully summed up by listening to their recordings. Their live shows are what make them addictive to watch. Hopefully you can check them out soon!
