What’s a “Flash Mob”?
From Wikipedia:
“A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, then quickly disperse. News media and commentators have often misused the term ‘flash mob’ to refer to nearly any form of public gathering.”
While the band does not literally fit that definition, we admire the concept.
The Flash Mob is a rock and roll band from Denver, CO that formed when members of two bands – Boondok Saints and Ultrachronic – joined together to form a new project with a common goal: to bring the best parts of Boondok Saints and Ultrachronic together in a synnergistic hybrid of musical styles that fans of both bands will dig.
The Flash Mob is: Kyle Ingram on vocals, Wayne Alden on vocals and guitar, Matt Fink on vocals and drums, D. Scott Morris on guitar, and Dave Crotser on bass.
As soon as The Flash Mob came to be, things kicked up really quickly for the band, largely based on the reputations of Boondok Saints and Ultrachronic in Denver and the Rocky Mountain region:
- In October of 2007 the band made its debut in Denver, and quickly gained momentum with its first studio track being released on SoBe Beverages’ 2007 “Pray for Snow” compilation – which also features tracks from Sublime, Dirty Heads, Pepper, Slightly Stoopid, and Fishbone.
- The Flash Mob was featured in Denver’s daily newspaper, The Rocky Mountain News, on October 26th.
- On November 30th, 2007, The Flash Mob was a featured act for 36 Hours of Keystone at The Green Light in River Run Village, in Keystone Ski Resort.
- On December 6th, 2007, The Flash Mob opened up for Ziggy Marley for the 2007 Vail Snow Daze event – in front of a capacity crowd at Dobson Arena in Vail, Colorado.
- The Flash Mob was written up in the December, 2007 issue of Colorado Music Buzz Magazine.
