LUCAS CLARKE - Drums
Lucas grew up on a small organic farm in Clackamas, Oregon on which his family grew extremely large vegetables, roughage and various blends of Vanilla tea. Due to the long tireless days or the old Nuclear power plant down the road Lucas developed oversized hands, feet and shear brute strength. With these newfound gifts he became Oregon famous as the youngest winner of the Annual Tractor Pull for Tots!
With his overbearing fame and fortune Lucas decided to do what every 4 year old wants to do…play the DRUMS! He locked himself in his room for the next 14 years studying the whimsical art of rhythm mastery, funk, pocket grooves and many other free forms of percussive theory.
After emerging from his room he realized that he had just spent 14 years in isolation and seclusion and hadn’t attended any formal schooling; he applied to the University of Colorado at Boulder, they realized he had a pulse and the means to pay out of state tuition so was immediately accepted. Now Lucas lives in Denver with his lovely drum friendly wife and he occasionally vacates his room to rock the house at The Atomic shows.
JASON GLASS - Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar
Jason grew up in the idyllic hills of Kentucky, spending his boyhood days killing and eating a variety of amphibians and rodents and could often be heard firing shotguns in the air for celebratory causes. As a college man, Jason attended the University of Kentucky. Over objections from the governor and as the result of undisclosed terms of a settlement, Jason holds a Bachelor’s and two Master’s degrees from UK. Go Cats.
Jason has worked a variety of fast paced and exciting roles including funeral services , forklift sales, selling meat-out-of-a-truck, fry cooking, janitorial engineering, mechanical bull operation, and throwing drunks out of bars – before finally landing on a career working with children.
Jason lives in Eagle, Colorado where he is the Director of Human Resources for Eagle County Schools. Jason is married to his lovely wife Sarah who thinks his Buddha-esque physique is strangely attractive and rubs his belly each morning for luck. Jason has one child (that he is legally responsible for) – a Jack Russell Terrier named Ringo.
For fun Jason enjoys using his metal detector at the beach, chatting online with “babes”, creating computer viruses, and showing off his uni-tard collection. He is currently co-authoring his latest book “Thistles of the Southeastern United States” and advocates wearing aluminum foil on your head whenever possible to keep the “those meddling kids and their dog” from reading your thoughts.
MICHAEL BYRNE - Bass Guitar
Michael is the only member of The Atomic that is a genuine Colorado native…born at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs as a military experiment gone wrong. After the military released Michael to his parents he spent the next 17 years growing up in the Springs, keeping busy selling big wheel tours up Pikes Peak. On a collegiate note, Michael applied to Colorado School of Mines in Golden after accidentally transposing the male to female ratio, but eventually left with a BS in Mechanical Engineering anyway.
Looking for a well-rounded base, early in his career he spent time as a laundromat sock finder, watch hand model, cat shepard, competitive double-dutch athlete, and coincidentally enough also sold meat-on-a-stick. Michael spent time honing his skills in these different areas before finally settling into the sexy and powerful position of software technical sales engineer.
A little known fact, Michael does not actually play the bass live during shows…instead playing a pre-recorded tape hoping the rest of the band doesn’t ad lib causing another embarrassing “Ashlee Simpson moment”.
In his free time, Michael enjoys trying to perfect his meat-flavored martini recipe, returning telemarketer’s phone calls, collecting baby corn that looks like famous people, and chasing his entrepreneurial dream by trying to get his artificial tree watering service off the ground.
JOHN BARNARD - Percussion/Backup Vocals
John grew up in the beautiful historic city of Richmond, Virginia where in his early preteen youth would jump trash cans on his Schwinn Sting Ray bike often landing on his face. To afford his addiction to the comic book hero “Conan The Barbarian”, 7-11 slurpees and Pacman, John made money by cutting grass around his neighborhood while trying not to sever any electrical wires or run over any cats.
It was in High School where John’s desire to be a percussionist was first discovered by his ninth grade geometry teacher who threw him out of class for loudly tapping his foot on the floor and banging his pencil against his desk. John’s new found passion grew when he later purchased his first set of bongos and practiced around campfires with other half-baked percussionists beating on everything from sticks, beer bottles and a cow bell which fans can never get enough of.
As a college lad, John learned everything NOT to do in life but had a lot of fun doing it but somehow managed to earn a BFA in Graphic Design. John now lives in Denver with his side kick James Brown, his chocolate lab, and runs his own marketing/advertising and design business. He also delves in photography where he can be seen around town with his camera photographing manhole covers and reflections through a beer glass.
For fun, John enjoys collecting Chia Pets, making naked snow angels and sculpting abstract figures with silly putty.
HUNTER WAGNER - Lead Guitar/Backup Vocals
Hunter grew up in the Northeast near the town of Rexford, New York, a small town founded near a famous man-made waterway between Albany and Buffalo. At the age of 5, Hunter was forced into child labor and had to lead mules for sometimes as many as 15 miles a day, trafficing lumber and supplies. It is during these daily forced labor walks that Hunter learned to play the guitar and developed his angst that he would bring to the stage later in life.
Hunter escaped the oppressive weather and lax child labor laws of New York to come to Colorado and attend college. After earning a degree in Biology and Economics, Hunter realized he was prepared for a fulfilling career in Information Technology.
Hunter lives in Denver with his wife and dog, where he continues to pursue his dream of not working in Information Technology.
For fun Hunter enjoys skinny skiing, skinny mountain biking and going to the Denver Stock show on acid. He is currently wears a watch with an exact count-down to when George W. Bush must leave office according to the constitution. Unless of course Cheney has the constitution amended, in which case Hunter then plans on moving to a remote island on Lake George back home in New York and declaring himself a sovereign power. He naval defense inventory includes a water balloon launcher he still has from college that was used to water bomb sun-bathing sorority girls on the roof of their house.
