Sarah Slaton
On a random day in 2001, in her sisters Pontiac “Funfire”, Sarah Slaton heard the opening words “so this is odd…the painful realization that all has gone wrong” pour out of Chris Carraba’s mouth. The next hour was spent soaking up every line sung out on the Dashboard Confessional “Places You’ve Come To Fear The Most” album. This would mark the day she began to really listen to music.
In the fall of 2003, in the back corner of a closet, she picked up her first guitar. The strings were completely out of tune and it was coated in dust. But with the first chord she was hooked. Shortly after figuring out how to use the thing she began playing small shows around her hometown of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Sarah learned to be comfortable on the stage at places like The Music Hall and Ryleighs. In 2004 she relocated to Springfield, Missouri where she happend to run into her musical soulmate Mallory Bailey. The two formed “Unhinged” and began playing shows at coffee houses, venues, and their school Missouri State University.
By 2007 Mallory became the lead of a soon to be amazing band, As Of Now. The two still do shows together on occasion. In the last year Sarah worked as a solo artist, performing frequently at 821 and The Magic Bean. This summer she is living in Denver and working on her new EP “11:19”. The cd will be released by the end of the summer
