What’s Up With Royal Bliss?
E-CARD: Royal Bliss The origins of ROYAL BLISS start like any other normal band. Well, that
(The Syndicate Blog)
Since early 1997 Royal Bliss has been alluring and stimulating audiences in the Western Region. The members of Bliss have a contagious enthusiasm for their music as well as a genuine rapport with their loyal following that results in sold-out venues wherever they play. Their fans can’t get enough of the band’s music and thrive on the intensity of the group’s live shows.
Royal Bliss regularly plays to sold-out venues in Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, and Park City, Utah (Club Xscape, Liquid Joes, Zephyr, Port O’ Call, and The Cabana Club etc.). They also play to sold-out crowds in a number of cities in, California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Texas. In September, 2002 they played to a sold-out crowd at the Key Club in Hollywood, California and subsequently have been requested to come back to play. In March 2003, they headlined the Roxy Theatre and the show proved to be extremely successful.
In addition to headlining their own much-anticipated all-age concerts, Bliss has opened for such acts as Kid Rock, Unified Theory (members of Pearl Jam and Blind Melon), OPM, The Flys, Nine Days, The Phunk Junkeez, Maroon 5, and The Alarm. Most recently, Royal Bliss played a show with former Smashing Pumpkins’ members Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin and opened up for Everclear in October, 2002 at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, to a crowd of 8,000 fans.
The result of the band’s broad exposure at their live shows has been heavy rotation on numerous radio stations in the western U.S. In Southern Idaho they have been receiving maximum rotation on the radio station 99.9 “The Buzz” . At least three different songs on this station have been attracting the fans’ attention and have them clamoring for more. Bliss’ songs “Fine Wine” & “Devils & Angels” are the most requested songs on the radio and has been for an entire year. Royal Bliss’ music can also be heard on the following radio stations:
90.9 FM (KRCL)Salt Lake City, UT Salt Lake City, UT
Mad Dog 102.3 FM (KWKD)
X-96 96.3 FM (KXRK)- Salt Lake City, UT
90.3 FM (KJOL)-Grand Junction, CO
100.9 FM (KRZQ)-Reno, NV
95.3 (WVIM)-Coldwater, MS
Yet another element of Bliss’ success has been their focus in the studio. Their debut EP and initial CD release of “Give Me A Little Bliss” sold out of its early runs for a combined 3,500 units. This was likely due to Bliss’ releases that garnered much airplay in Salt Lake City and the CD’s that were distributed to various radio stations across the country. Their new CD called “King Size” (2001) has been met with additional success. Many stores have had to struggle to keep this hot new disc on the shelves since its release.
The initial 2,500 copies of “King Size” that were distributed to Sam Goody, Wherehouse Music, Media Play and Gray Whale sold-out of the CD’s immediately and additional orders were requested. As a result, Bliss’ touring schedule has been expanded throughout the mid-west to accommodate the extra demand. To date, Royal Bliss has collectively sold over 20,000 CD’s. More recently, the band spent a week in September recording their latest demo at Big Idea Studios with well-established producer Mark Wolfson (Playtone/Sony) of Los Angeles, CA.
Royal Bliss’ music has received positive acclaim from artists like Kid Rock, Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Hugh Mc Donald (BonJovi), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Jimmy Chamberlin (Smashing Pumpkins) and Marianne Faithful, as well as producers like Monty Powell, Howard Willing and Bjorn Thorsrud. Further praise has come from national radio promoters like John Vernile formerly of Gavin, and currently at Sony. Their fans feel the same as was evident at their last show in Twin Falls, Idaho in June, 2002. Bliss spent two hours at scheduled signing at a mall in Twin Falls, Idaho and later that night played to a sold-out crowd of over 2,500 people all there to experience Royal Bliss.
