She’s indie rock. She’s country. She’s folk. She’s soul. She’s all of them and none of them. Jessica Lea Mayfield’s sweet sound is at once haunting and soothing, a blend of different styles that results in a very unique brand of music.
Growing up in a musical household, Jessica found her flair for music early on. By age 8, she was performing with her family band One Way Rider, and now at 18 plays the bass, guitar, and banjo. But to truly understand Jessica is to see her in her element, presenting her own original material, either solo or with minimal accompaniment. Jessica writes and performs with a sensitivity, rawness, and confidence well beyond her years.
On The Black Keys latest record Attack & Release, Jessica sings a duet with Dan Auerbach on the closing track “Things Ain’t Like They Used To Be”, becoming the first guest vocalist to appear on a Black Keys album. This was just the first collaborative effort between Jessica and Auerbach, who is the producer on Jessica’s upcoming record. Jessica is also opening up a number of shows for folk rock sensations The Avett Brothers.
