Founded in early 2006 by Manuel Roybal and Vince Vigil, Jazz del Barrio has played numerous venues in and around Denver including City of Denver’s Audio Picnic, the Colorado Music Summit, Alto and Chaputepec Too.

Manuel Roybal is an actor and musician who has been in theater, films and TV. He has also played guitar in various types of bands for more than 30 years. Vince Vigil has also been in various types of bands for nearly as long.

Together, Manuel, (on guitar) and Vince, (on bass) have successfully played together in bands and theatrical music performances since 1999. With their increasing popularity, they decided to put together their own band with their own style of Latin jazz, funky jazz and original songs.

They added an experienced conguero, Nelson Soto, in the Spring of 2006 and have played with various configurations by adding drums, keyboards and various guest musicians. This band now has the ability to play as a jazz trio, quartet or quintet; or as a large jazz-funk dance band at larger venues. With a big enough stage and enough budget and we would love to add a horn section.
