Jason Vigil

Singer/songwriter Jason Vigil has generated a loud buzz in his hometown of Denver since the release of his debut album, Heart Gone Sober, in November of 2007. While most independent artists struggle to find their feet months after a debut release, Vigil not only had solid footing, but got off to a running start. He and his band debuted the album with a sold out CD Release party at The Walnut Room in Denver, and Vigil’s intense live performances began opening eyes on a local and national level.
Like a story understood by all, Heart Gone Sober delves deep into the life of a bleeding heart. Vigil’s unique songwriting blends alternative, pop and rock reflect and reveal that, with time, a person can sober up from substances, relationships or even life itself, and find direction. Vigil’s music has been stylistically compared to Matchbox 20, Coldplay, Jeff Buckley, and Pete Yorn. He emanates powerful hooks with a smooth, passionate manner and flowing energy, with or without his band.

Performing Songwriter Magazine published a review of Heart Gone Sober in the Top 12 DIY Picks of its100th issue. “If Buddy Holly had been born in the ’80s, this is what he would have sounded like,” the review beamed.

After a year of touring and honing his performance skills, Vigil recently signed a publishing deal with St. James Media, a boutique company started by songwriter Michael St. James that specializes in film/TV licensing. Vigil’s regional touring included a recent showcase at the Playback:STL Festival, and he recently recorded three new songs with producer Duane Lundy (Scourge of the Sea, Neva Jeffrey, Vandaveer, The Parlour Boys) in Lexington, Kentucky, with plans to include the songs on a forthcoming EP.

In addition to a recent successful college radio campaign for Heart Gone Sober, Vigil has placed songs in rotation on KQMT 99.5 The Mountain, and enjoyed airplay on 99.9 The Point, 93.3 KCTL in Denver and KRFC in Fort Collins. Vigil and his band also reached the regional finals of the BODOG battle of the bands, and in 2005 Scene Magazine named Jason and his lineup the best band in Northern Colorado.
