Anarbor
Yeah, it’s just another pop band. It was the first thought that came to my mind, but after hearing Anarbor and their EP, Hearing Colours and Seeing Sounds, I noticed that it was a little more than that. Smooth, catchy, “poppy”, for lack of a better word, this is one of my favorite EP’s so far in 2007. Whether you need an upbeat, catchy tune (Beat the Drum), or even a powerful acoustic song (Anatomy), this EP has it.
A perfect opener, I’ll Stay to the West is one of my favorite songs on the EP. It’s the song that, in my opinion, mostly because Slade really shows off his vocals. The chorus is also very catchy, one that will be replaying in your head for awhile. My absolute favorite song on the album is actually the second track, Where the Wild Things are (Monsters). Another song with an extremely memorable chorus, it has a very cool breakdown about a minute or so in, where Slade once more uses his voice to get your head bobbing to the music. Overall, there is not one song I truly dislike on this EP. It’s so easy to listen to over and over again, as well. Maybe a year or so from now, we won’t be calling this one a classic..but as of right now, it sure is great.
They aren’t signed now, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see them get picked up soon, because this quintet out of Arizona can really bring it and is exactly the type of music pop fans everywhere are looking for. While the lyrics on this EP are far from perfect..in time, they will get better. I have faith in it.
